Andrew Symonds

Last modified 2 years, 6 months ago

Andrew Symonds is a right handed batsman and moves between medium pace and off-spin bowling for the Australian cricket team. Symonds is also an outstanding fielder and according the Cricinfo report of late 2005, Symonds was responsible for the fifth equal most run outs in the history of any fielder's One Day International records since the 1999 World Cup and has the fourth highest rate of success.

Symonds debuted in ODIs for Australia in 1998. He has a strike rate of over 90 and has notched a highest score of 156. However his records in the Test match version of the game are not quite so impressive. Symonds was involved in a much hyped controversy that resulted in Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh's suspension from the team for three matches when Symonds alleged that the Indian spinner had abused him in racial terms. Complaints of misdemeanor and violation of the codes of conduct of Cricket Australia hace also brought Symonds under fire over the last two years.
