Jaycee Lee Dugard

Last modified 2 years, 3 months ago

At the age of 11, Jaycee Lee Dugard was kidnapped from a bus stop from in front of her South Lake Tahoe home in California, by Phillip (58) and Nancy Garrido (54) in a speeding car. Her step father Carl Probyn had witnessed the incident and had given the abductor's car a chase on his bike. The case was beamed on the television in "America's Most Wanted" many times.

When she walked in to the office of her abductor's parole officer on August 26, 2009, along with her captor and was identified, it was almost like she was back from the dead. Accompanying her were also two children, born to her in the years of captivity, aged 15 and 11. The first of the children Jaycee had conceived when she was 14.

In the 18 years that Jaycee was held captive by her tormentors, she had been completely isolated from the outside world. She was kept hidden in a makeshift compound at the backyard of the Garrido residence, camouflaged from view by high raised sheds and tarpaulin. In these years, neither she nor her children were ever sent to school or visited a doctor. After her identification, Jaycee was reunited with her mother Terry Probyn.
