After Jaycee Lee Dugard walked in to the office of Phillip Garrido's parole officer on August 26, 2009 and was identified, Garrido (58) and his wife Nancy (54) have been charged with the 1991 kidnapping. Jaycee was 11 years old when she was kidnapped by the Garridos from a bus stop in front of her South Lake Tahoe residence. Nancy Garrido is alleged to be an equal participant in all the conspiracies regarding Jaycee. The Photofit pictures released after the kidnapping is said to have a strong resemblance to Nancy.

Nancy had met her husband Phillip while visiting a relative in the Leavenworth prison in Kansas and got married to him while he was still behind the bars. When Phillip was released from prison, Nancy moved in with him. She now faces the charge of conspiring in the kidnapping and holding Jaycee in captivity against her will.

In the years of captivity, Jaycee was set up in a makeshift lodging in the backyard of the Garrido residence that was hidden from the view of the neighbors by tall boards and tarpaulins. It is alleged that the couple made Jaycee bear two children for them (the first born to Jaycee when she was 14) and treated her like a sex slave.
